Cornerstone Pregnancy Services had its beginnings in the heart of one concerned individual, Bill Williams, Music Minister at Church of the Open Door. After research, meetings, and much prayer, the Lorain County Crisis Pregnancy Center officially opened its doors on October 13, 1986 in rented space on North Abbe Road.

By 1990, it had become evident this ministry should be an outreach of the greater church body of Lorain County. The decision to officially separate from Church of the Open Door and rename the ministry Cornerstone Pregnancy Services was made. Property was purchased on Middle Avenue in Elyria and the old century home was remodeled to accommodate our services. Over the years we have seen great participation of many denominations and churches in the area, which has affirmed this courageous decision.

The ministry morphed over the years to accommodate the changes of the culture and the community at large. Several satellite centers have been launched including one in Lorain and one in Rocky River. Currently, the ministry is housed in property donated in 2006 and combining the previous Elyria and Lorain locations. This building is located near Midway Mall on Griswold Road.

Cornerstone has an intentional model of ministry focused not only on pregnancy, but also encompassing sexual integrity and sexual health. As such, we provide a  sexually transmitted infection (STI) clinic for screening and treatment. We desire for women to be healthy and whole and are alarmed at the rising numbers of STIs in Lorain County. Some of these affect a woman’s fertility and can threaten her overall well-being.

“Those who are wise will take all this to heart;
they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord.”
Psalm 107:43 NLT
